When a child moves from one phase of education to another, such as from primary school to secondary school, or secondary to post-16, that is know as a phase transition. Children with a phase transition happening in the September should have their EHCP reviewed and amended by the 31st of March if they are moving from secondary to post-16 education; any other type of phase transition, amendments should be completed by the 15th of February.
If you need to appeal a phase transition, just like with other appeals, you have 2 months from the date on the decision letter, or one month from the date on a mediation certificate, to register your appeal. We have more information on appeals on our website: take a look at our page on Appeals and Tribunals.
If you need support with an appeal, we are happy to give you information, advice, and support. Once you have your decision letter(usually sent as an email), get in touch with us as soon as you know that you want to appeal the decision that has been made.
