The government has published a major package of reforms aiming to transform support for children and young people with SEND. The vision set out in Every Child Achieving and Thriving is to build a more inclusive, consistent education system with earlier support, stronger collaboration across services, and high‑quality provision for every child.
Alongside this, the SEND Reform consultation sets out specific proposals to improve early, fair, and local support across the 0–25 system and invites views from families, professionals, and the wider sector
How to Have Your Say
- Read the proposals in the main reform paper: Every Child Achieving and Thriving – this outlines the government’s vision for schools and the SEND system.
- Respond to the consultation SEND Reform: Putting Children and Young People First – You can take part online or email them to SENDreform.CONSULTATION@education.gov.uk or by post to SENDAP Reform, Sanctuary Buildings, Great Smith Street, London, SW1P 3BT
- See the full list of consultation questions at the end of the consultation document if you want to respond to specific areas. You do not have to answer the questions. You could answer some, all or write your own response.
- Prefer something shorter? Smaller, easy‑read and supporting documents are also available here, breaking down key points from both the white paper and the consultation.
Your voice will help shape the future of SEND support, even a short response makes a real difference.
